Breaking the Shame Cycle: Finding Freedom in God’s Truth
This week in our Off Roads series, we discussed how shame and fear can quietly steer us off course in our relationship with God—especially when it comes to the topic of sex. Drawing from Genesis 2, we explored God’s original intention for intimacy: a beautiful gift designed for oneness, connection, and joy within marriage. We talked honestly about how mixed messages from culture, family, and even the church can lead to harsh stereotypes, unnecessary shame, or secrecy—and how this affects everything from personal struggles to married life. Through biblical insight and real-life examples, we considered the consequences of letting shame linger, and how God’s grace offers hope, healing, and restoration for everyone, no matter their past. We were encouraged to talk openly about these often-taboo subjects, replacing old hurts and falsehoods with the truth of God’s loving design. Take some time this week to reflect or have a conversation—what shapes your perspective, and how might God invite you to experience His healing and freedom?
